Above The Waves

Story:

As far the eye can see, the crowd is like a wave that carries the pilgrim behind the one he venerates: Mazu, the protector who saves from storms, the benefactress who floats on the foam. With the palanquin at the head, a procession accompanies the pilgrim through Taiwan. A human ribbon declares with a common voice : « Wherever you go, I follow »

She who connects land, sea and sky is at the spolight, sparkling with luminous bergamot. With adoration, the faithful gaze at the goddess in front of them. She rises high and serene above mortals in the warm chill of cardamom and incense. The devout wisps that surround her rise from glowing sticks like silent prayers.

The attentive pilgrim finds the spiral pattern everywhere he looks. From the steam escaping from the infusion - a blend of green and Ceylon black tea - that he receives as a reward for his intense procession, to the temple roofs, architectural jewels with superimposed tiles like the petals of a just blooming rose : the curves respond to each other. If he looks even more closely, he recognizes the same ascending forms on the hillsides, on the crest of the waves, in the arc of the statue's smile. Everything is in everything.

The walker smiles back, closes his eyes and fervently absorbs Mazu's wake. A fragrant blessing that projects the bliss of tonka bean, the harmony of patchouli, the strength of cedar and the anchoring of vetiver. A wish for happiness and protection for him and his family, embodied in a fragrance.
